Mohd Ali Harusdey bin Timbang attempted to steal four water pipe heads and one large water pipe from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) Apartment in Kampong Lambak Kanan sometime between 7am and 10am on January 11 this year.
He also trespassed into the same compound sometime between 7.15am and 10am on December 19.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Hajah Siti Mu’izzah binti Haji Sabli informed Chief Magistrate Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar that the defendant was accompanied by an accomplice on January 11.
A RBPF Logistics Department officer went to inspect the compound when he found tools gathered in one location on the ground floor of the RBPF Apartment building.
He then noticed someone looking at him and heard people talking from level four of the building, and lodged a police report.
Police arrived at the scene soon after and arrested the defendant’s companion, but the defendant managed to escape.
On December 19, the defendant was seen by another government servant who was conducting an inspection at the buildings in the compound where the defendant was last seen.
He alerted the police, who then arrived at the scene and searched the building, eventually finding the defendant hiding in the ceiling on the third floor.
