It said Amirsham, who was non-executive chairman since March 1, 2015, would step down on Feb 28.
“Shireen’s appointment was by the Minister of Finance pursuant to Sections 10(1)(a) and 10(3) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007,” it added.
She has more than 31 years of focused fund management experience in emerging Asia equity markets, and was the founder of Corston-Smith Asset Management Sdn Bhd.
Currently, she currently holds independent directorships in AMMB Holdings Bhd and at the Federal Land Development Authority.
Shireen has also served on Malaysia’s Sports Advisory Council, the board of Tourism Malaysia and was a member of the EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industry Financial Services Committee.
The board and management of Bursa Malaysia also expressed their appreciation to Amirsham’s for his contributions, leadership and guidance to the exchange’s growth.
