The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (“MIA”) has approved the release of the MIA Competency Framework Exposure Draft on 21 February 2019 for distribution to members and other interested parties for comments. The proposals in this Exposure Draft may be modified in light of comments received before being issued in the final form.
This Exposure Draft provides guidelines on the proficiency level required of accountancy professionals based on the International Education Standards as released by the International Accounting Education Standards Board, specific requirements of Malaysia laws and regulations, and other issues to be considered in the development and implementation of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangements (“ASEAN MRA”).
The Exposure Draft seeks feedback on the MIA Competency Framework. Comments are most helpful when they refer to specific paragraphs, include the reasons for the comments, and, where appropriate, make specific suggestions for any proposed changes to wording.
The feedback will assist MIA to effectively develop the MIA Competency Framework. Members and interested parties are encouraged to submit your comments to [email protected] by 10 May 2019.
For further enquiries pertaining to this Exposure Draft, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Leong Mun Foong and Ms. Hasmida Ismail from the Competency Development & Framework department at 03-27229000.
