Date: 23 October 2018; Type: Legal News; Source: Bernama

MELAKA, Oct 23 (Bernama) - The Melaka government has offered late penalty waiver for the people who settle their quit rent arrears from now until Dec 31, said Chief Minister Adly Zahari.

He said the late penalty involved a total of RM21.3 million, however, he hoped with the move, it would encourage more people to settle their quit rent arrears and thus increase the state revenue.

“The state government hopes that people in Melaka can fulfil their obligation to settle the existing quit rent arrears.

“It is hoped that the people will take advantage of this opportunity where payment can be made at the counters at the district offices statewide as well as the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC),” he told reporters after opening the Melaka government monthly assembly here today.

Meanwhile, Adly in his opening speech earlier, said the state government would review the business activities and achievements of Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) to ensure there was no duplication of any functions and activities.
