Its director-general Datuk Seri T. Subromaniam said the cancellation involved agents importing and exporting five commodities, namely tiles, tires, plastic waste, cigarettes and liquor.
Subromaniam said the cancellation was the best way to ensure no shipping agent was involved in smuggling activities.
He said in the last two weeks, his agency had revoked the licences of five agents, namely that of four shipping agents for plastic waste and one for cigarettes, for making false declarations.
“Prior to this, the department only suspended the licence for six months.
“If they are not guilty, we will return their licence but this time we acted decisively to revoke the licence immediately without any compromise,” he said at a press conference on Customs performance in combating smuggling of cigarettes and liquor, here, today.
