Lieutenant-Colonel Aung Myo Kyaw of the Central Command brought the complaint against U Thawbita in Amarapura township court.
But the court said that, based on a police investigation, it was dismissing the claim against the monk.
“The court’s decision is fair, and I welcome it. Based on the police report, the court dismissed the case,” said the monk’s lawyer, Daw Ywet Nu Aung.
Lieutenant Colonel Myo Win Khine refused to comment on the court decision.
He has sued U Thawbita for his social media posts under the Telecommunications Law’s section 66, and the case will be heard at Amarapura township court on June 20.
The monk had taken part in the 2007 Saffron Revolution, a prominent democracy movement in Myanmar.
