At a recent meeting, the NACC reviewed a Supreme Court decision on the breaking up of the 2008 rally, as its window for an appeal will expire on September 1.
The body has decided to appeal against the court’s ruling to remove Pol Lt Gen Suchart Muankaew from a list of four suspects involved in the action. Others include former Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawad and his former deputy Gen Chawalit Yongchaiyuth.
The commission voted 8 to 0 in acknowledgement that Pol Lt Gen Suchart was the commanding officer at the scene but failed to act according to the situation, allegedly shirking his duties. NACC member Pol Gen Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit was present at the meeting but abstained from voting.
The appeal is to be filed tomorrow.
