Deputy Bangkok Governor Pol Lt Gen Amnuay Nimmano said today that according to the City Cleanliness and Order Act of 1992, people who report litter bugs are entitled to a reward worth half of the fine imposed on the violator. The act pertains to the riding of motorcycles on sidewalks, littering in canals and public spaces, illegal vendor activity and unauthorized bill posting with fines up to 10,000 baht.
Citizens in the capital who see such behavior can call 02 465-6644, send a letter to the Municipal Works Office or Email [email protected] Evidence such as a photo or video is required along with information such as to the date and location with additional facts such as any vehicle license plates or personal information of the offender encouraged.
The reward will only be passed on to the reporter after the fine is paid. If a fine is not paid on the day, reporters will be notified by mail to receive their reward at a later date. All details of the reporter will be kept confidential.
