Amid criticism against the draft Members of Parliament Act, Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) spokesperson Chatchai Na Chiang Mai said the bill has yet to be finalized as the drafting team is still open to ideas and opinions from the public. The spokesperson expects several adjustments to be made to the draft before the CDC hands it to the legislature.
Chatchai is confident that Thai voters will not be confused by the new system assigning candidacy numbers.
He said the CDC welcomes criticism because it tells the drafters that Thai people pay attention to politics and what’s going on in the nation.
The spokesperson went on to confirm that the drafting team will finish all organic laws by December 4th, 2017, which is in accordance with the constitutional time frame, dismissing a rumor that the general election will be pushed back.
