Minister of Digital Economy and Society's Pichet Durongkaveroj said today the two laws include the cybersecurity draft act which can prevent or reduce the risks of cyber threats. The law sets three levels of threat and clear preventative guidelines and measures against them. The law also introduces the establishment of a cybersecurity committee and cybersecurity drill at an ASEAN level to create cooperation and gain fast access to information, he said.
The Cabinet meeting also gave the green light to the draft Act on Personal Information Protection with the objective being to prevent use of personal information without consent. The law stipulates that online systems must ask users for consent every time, before accessing their personal information and clearly state the objectives. Most importantly, the law allows the owner of such personal information to withdraw the consent given to online systems.
